I’m starting to find some footing in my life. It’s precarious and sometimes it slips a little bit, but I do believe I am still heading up. It’s going so slow lately it has become hard to tell. Anyways – nice weather means that the kids want to be outside more, and that means I have to be outside more which takes away from much of my computer work time. So in an effort to keep being productive I have started to draw traditionally again, like the above image, and then color it in photoshop. Tomorrow though I think I will be using some water colors to try to speed this up even more.

Anyways, that’s where I’m at.

I’ve been quite busy lately doing non-horror related stuff. Well, non horror in the traditional sense, but some of it really was quite horrific. At least it was to me. Anyways … I am trying to get back into the swing of things and the above image is my first real attempt at it. There are some parts that have succeeded and a few parts that failed. Overall I am pleased with it and am ready to move on.

Maybe a little faster than him.

The only way to kill one is to shoot it in the head. Not the arm, leg or gut, that never helps. Maybe it would slow them down, but it won’t stop them. Nope, one in the brain and leave em to rot. And if you’re not sure its totally dead, double tap!

This little diddy started as a doodle and just progressed into a more developed image that cried out to be colored. Which I did, in photoshop with my bamboo tablet. Some people think it should be turned 90 degrees, but I like it like this. What do you think?

Some people have theorized that zombies can sometimes remember bits and pieces of their actual lives. Take this shmuck for example. I’m going to call him Romeo, because I love cheese. Anyways, before Romeo became a zombie, he was on his way to celebrate the 5 year wedding anniversary with his wife. He was going to surprise her with a big bouquet and some Ice Wine. Obviously he didn’t make it, but he still clutches a rose, the only flower he has left. Perhaps he is still trying to find his love.

This super fast sketch got the color treatment in photoshop and a brickwall was added to help give it some depth.

Ever get the feeling you’re being watched? While walking home late at night do you listen for any sound out of place, imagination running wild making your heart race, wondering what creature lurks hidden in the shadows? This is how I imagine the creature would reveal itself. Slowly and with maximum effect.

This image began as a doodle on the back of a yahtzee score card, and developed more and more over the night that I just had to colorize it in photoshop. If you look close you can see where I digitally removed the yahtzee score card lines.

Zombies are strange creatures. Mostly they are predictable, mindlessly chasing any warm blooded still living human no matter what. But sometimes they can surprise you by showing some emotion other than rage. Take this undead bugger for example. He should have been snarling and rushing straight at us hungry for brains, but instead he is pressed up against the wall, a hint of fear on his rotting face. Perhaps he knew that the guns we had pointing at his head would end his unlife. Perhaps he wanted it to end.

This doodle was colored in photoshop and a brickwall texture was added behind it. Still looked a bit off so I forced down the colors by saving it as a gif.

This is the last known photo of H.D. Avesline before he became the first actual victim of the zombie invasion. He was totally unprepared for it and was out walking his little doggie listening to his ipod when 14 undead rushed him from behind and ripped him limb from limb. I’m not allowed to describe what happened to his dog.

Drawn with pen and colored with the bamboo in photoshop.
